Job Description
Job Title: Art Instructor
Hours: 21-24 hours per week
Salary: $20-$25 per hour depending on experience
Location: Skokie Park District, Devonshire Cultural Center, 4400 Greenwood St., Skokie, IL 

Qualifications
Position requires a B.S., B.A., or B.F.A in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field.  Prefer an individual with experience teaching drawing and painting to all age groups and varying skill levels. Position requires excellent, presentation, communication, and organizational skills.

Duties
The Art Instructor will plan, develop, organize and instruct a drawing and/or painting curriculum that is consistent with the program philosophy and adheres to the needs and principles of a well-rounded and traditional drawing and painting instructional program. Plan lessons and provide group and individual instruction to all age levels. Cooperate with the immediate supervisor to organize and schedule classes and activities. Maintain open communication with immediate supervisor, co-workers, students, and families. Responsible for the set-up, clean-up, and return of all supplies and equipment utilized during classes and maintains a safe classroom environment for all participants. Maintains an accurate inventory of classroom materials and supplies, and informs supervisor when materials and supplies need to be ordered. Maintain accurate attendance records and reports.

Everything around us is in constant motion. What happens during a process, movement or transformation? It is in artists’ power to depict a moment.

Submit: Your art in any medium, painting, sculpture, ceramic, jewelry, fabric, video (2 min max), installation...
Images must be in jpg format (max. 10mb 4000 pixels longest side) & include title_dimensions.

Submit: A writing piece (50 words or less) optional

Submit: A short one sentence description of each piece.

Prizes
First Prize
$50 and a certificate signed by the Judge.
Second Prize $25 gift certificate usable in the gallery and a certificate signed by the Judge.
Special Mention $10 gift certificate usable in the gallery and a certificate signed by the Judge.
Gallery Pick $25 gift certificate for display fee in future show.

Size of Artwork: Artwork size may not exceed 36” x 36" x 18" for each piece.
Contact us for any oversized artwork submissions.

Display Fee*: Due by October 24th, 2014
Upon acceptance you will be expected to pay a display fee* at the rate of $25 per painting or $60 for 3 paintings. Contact gallery for pricing on over-sized pieces.
You will receive invites, webpage, inclusion in press releases & a page in our art book (available for purchase).
You will pay 30% on your sales as commission to the gallery.

Drop Off/Receipt of Work: October 28th – November 1st
You are responsible for dropping off your artwork, ready for hanging (wired). If you are outside of Chicago, you are responsible for shipping, insuring the package, requesting a delivery signature and for a reusable package plus a return shipping label. Please package fragile items properly in oversize boxes to prevent damage by shipping carriers. We will refuse delivery of items damaged by the carrier. Shipments via FedEx should be standard overnight, or ground, do not send priority overnight or 1st overnight. Do not send as home delivery, check business, or leave it blank.

Pick up/Return Shipping Date: November 25th – December 4th
Artwork which is not picked up within 30 days becomes the property of the gallery.

Insurance: 100% Insurance of your work on our premises at the fair value you declare. You are responsible for insuring artwork in transit. Artwork will not be insured after October 4th.
*Display fee is non-refundable.

Photograph Restoration Artist

Job Title: Photograph Restoration Artist/administrative responsibilities
Downers Grove photographic restoration studio has position for photograph restoration artist and image preparation as well as administrative responsibilities. MUST  be proficient in Photoshop CS 6, have drawing skills that include human features, objects, backgrounds, foregrounds, etc. to work  restoring old, damaged photographs. Salary starts at $11.50/hour. Part time 4 days/week. Office hours Mon-Fri  9:00-4:30pm.
