This is an Open Call For Entries! Anyone can exhibit up to 3 works of any medium of artwork with nature, earth, the elements, plants, animals, etc as the subject.

Hanging Fee for up to 3 works:
OPAL members $10./piece, 3rd piece is $5.
Non-members $20./piece, 3rd piece is $10.
Deadline to drop off work, Feb. 8 at 5pm

Exhibition Opportunity - Naperville Art League

ill title8th Annual Public Art Competition - CALL FOR ARTISTS

Deadline February 18, 2012

  • Theme: All entries must be the artist’s personal, original artistic interpretation of the theme: “Attachment.”

  • Content: Pieces may be representational or abstract. All work must be original in design, concept and
    execution and signed by the artist. Kits or commercially prepared objects that are decorated will not be eligible.

  • Media: Any media or mixed-media may be used. Photography and computer art are acceptable.

  • Size: Maximum size for 2-D pieces is 36” x 48” for the outside frame in either direction. Pieces must be appropriately framed and ready to hang with a wire hanger, no “sawtooth” hangers. “Top” or any special hanging requirements must be plainly marked on the back to avoid hanging errors.
    Maximum size for 3-D pieces is 48” high by 36” wide and/or deep; no more than 100 lbs. and must be free-standing, ready to display.

  • Judging: Professional judges will jury the exhibit. Ribbons will be awarded to the winners of Best of Show,
    First Place and Honorable Mention.

Exhibition Opportunity - Union Street Gallery

EXHIBIT OPPORTUNITY for Illinois Artists

Union Street Gallery in Chicago Heights, IL is putting together a group exhibit titled “Threshhold” which will run April 13-May 5th, 2012. 
 
We are looking to feature work from 8 Illinois artists at the beginning of their careers. Artists must be no more than 5 years out of art school and have a modest exhibition history. Artists who have not had any solo exhibits will be considered first for this exhibit. Artists with more than 4 solo exhibits and/or gallery representation will not  be eligible. 
 
Each exhibiting artist will get approximately 13 feet of wall space to exhibit their work. Work will be curated by Gallery Director Jessica Segal. Artists are required to hand deliver/pick-up work.  Gallery will take care of installation unless otherwise arranged. There will be a $35 exhibition fee for those chosen to exhibit.
To be considered, artists must submit their CV, 3-5 images representing their body of work, and a short statement of intent/proposal for the space (no more than 1 page) to: Jessica Segal, Gallery Director, unionstreetart@gmail.com.

All required materials must be emailed by March 14th.

Exhibition Opportunity - Polish Arts Club of Chicago

76th Annual Exhibition of Painting and Sculpture

The POLISH ARTS CLUB encourages its emerging and established member artists to participate in the annual juried exhibition. Membership is open to all that share the goals of the Polish Arts Club.
Membership is not a pre-requisite for submitting the entry form.

The 76th Annual Exhibition of Painting and Sculpture sponsored by the  POLISH ARTS CLUB will be held at the Polish Museum of America, 984 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, Illinois from Sunday, March 18 to Saturday, March 31, 2012. The Exhibition will open with a Reception on Sunday, March 18th from 1:00PM to 4:00PM, with a Juried Award Ceremony at 2:00PM.

PRIZES
Over $2,000 in Cash Awards and Purchase Prizes will be distributed.
Note: Purchase Prizes are traditionally awarded in the amount of $300.

JURORS - Names of the Jurors will be announced at a later date.

ELIGIBILITY
Original paintings and sculptures in any media are eligible. All paintings must be frames, wired and ready for hanging. Any special fastening implements must be provided. The maximum size should not exceed 4' x 6'. Suitable pedestals must be furnished for sculptures. The committee reserves the right to reject objectionable material.

ENTRY FEES
Members:                  $25.00 for submission of up to three works (paintings, sculptures, etc.)
Non-members:          $35.00 for submission of up to three works (paintings, sculptures, etc.)

Note: Entry Fees are not returnable.

After School Comic Book Instructor

Position Title: Comic Book Instructor for Elev8 Extended Day
Wages: $15-$23 per hour, depending on experience
 
Position Description
Teach an 8-10 week comic book curriculum to students in grades 6th through 8th.   Promote a safe learning environment by using effective classroom management skills; mentoring the artistic and emotional growth of the students, maintaining communication with Program Manager and Program Director and creating a final project to present during the Showcase.
 
Responsibilities
·         Educate students by planning and developing Comic Book curriculum and submitting lesson plans according to Elev8 guidelines and expectations.
·         Tailor Comic Book curriculum by developing modifications for several levels of academic ability and previous achievement.
·         Facilitate lesson plans using a variety of techniques; including lectures, projects, audiovisual and public library resources, computers, and the internet.
·         Set up, maintain and break down classroom space.
·         Maintain order in the classroom by consulting students with behavioral problems and taking the appropriate disciplinary steps; seeking advice from other professionals where there appears to be evidence of learning disabilities, drug or alcohol abuse, problems of social adjustment, or child abuse.
·         Maintain safe, secure, and healthy educational environment by providing student support through monitoring halls, gym during recreation time, lunchroom, classrooms and sponsoring Elev8 activities by establishing, following, and enforcing Elev8 standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations. 
·         Keep Program Manager, Program Director and Data Coordinator informed by maintaining records of first aid, attendance, class performance and behavior; reporting on all elements of student development at end of day debriefs and instructor meetings, both regularly scheduled and as-needed.
·         Updates job knowledge and performance by attending instructor orientation and binder meeting, end of the day debriefs, midterm meeting, Showcase and end of session debrief/clean up day.
·         Responsible for reporting to work on time to maintain effective classroom structure.  You will be expected to work 4 hours a day, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well as any meetings and all showcase rehearsals and the showcase event.

Package/Graphic Designer Snapshot
