What We Do: At Cappex, we help students find the right college – much simpler and easier than anywhere else. Our revolutionary approach allows students to be sought by colleges across the country, and our comprehensive college profile data, unique admission chances tool and student reviews help students find their perfect college fit. The Role:  We’d like you to spend 10-20+ hours a week in our office, assisting our in-house designer in print, web and email design. You’ll start you off tackling updates to our existing materials, but we’re hoping you can branch-out into applying our design guidelines to new projects, and then ultimately tackling new creative initiatives.  Either way, despite being a paid internship, you can also expect to come away with some work for your portfolio as well.

The Ideal Candidate:   You’re smart and talented. You have your own ideas, but you take direction well, even when you disagree.  You’re easy-going, you mesh well with our designer.  Above all, you help him get more done.  You’re a fast, efficient hard worker.

Required Skills:
-          Graphic Design:  We prefer someone who is actively enrolled in a college program focused on the arts, though that’s not a firm requirement.
-          Photoshop: Nothing too crazy- most of their work there would just be arranging things, resizing logos and positioning design elements that have already been created.
-          InDesign:  Again, nothing huge. Just the ability to update and manipulate documents, and to make some from scratch following our existing templates.
-          Knowledge of HTML: Especially in regards to HTML emails.  Anything more than that is a huge plus.
-          An understanding of print/web design standards.
Other Beneficial Skills:
-          CSS:  To help with web development, it would have great if you have a strong knowledge of the basics of CSS. You don't need to be a CSS3 expert- you just need to know the box model and the little in's and out's of CSS hacks and browser support. Experience dealing with IE7 would be a plus.
-          Photography:  We occasionally have some photography projects, so it would be great to have someone who can conduct portrait and location shoots.
-          Voice-Over or Acting:  We’re always looking for help in producing content for our YouTube channel.
-          Video Editing
More about Cappex:  We got our start in 2006 and we're off to a raging success. We appreciate all interest, but will only contact those applicants with whom we wish to proceed further.
Note:  Cappex is not currently working with any placement firms for this position.  Please apply directly even if the firm tells you, "they know someone at Cappex" (or something similar).
