GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERN



INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW 


The Graphic Design Internship is a great opportunity for a motivated student to gain real-world experience working in a national law firm doing innovative work on a wide range of criminal justice and social justice issues. The Graphic Design Intern will be based in Chicago but work with other, out-of-state offices.

The internship is unpaid and students are eligible to receive academic credit.

Time Commitment: Position is part time (10-20 hours/week). Schedule is flexible. Position is available immediately.


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain and enhance the visual identity consistent with organization’s brand guidelines.

Develop and produce graphics for use on the website, social media channels and emails, keeping with graphic design standards, case objectives and branding guidelines.

Create reusable graphics templates for print and digital.

Assist with managing digital asset libraries including images, graphics, videos, and templates.

Collaborate with staff across the organization on graphic design needs.

Assist with any other tasks/projects as needed. 


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Current undergraduate student, preferably in a related field (e.g. Graphic Design, Design Media Arts).

Basic knowledge of art and design.

Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.

Understanding of trends and best practices for using graphics to communicate effectively via digital channels.

Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to deliver work product under deadlines

COMMUNICATIONS INTERN

The Communications Internship is a unique opportunity to gain real-world public affairs experience in a national law firm doing innovative work on a wide range of criminal justice and social justice issues.

The internship is unpaid and students are eligible to receive academic credit.

Time Commitment: Position is part time (10-20 hours/week). Schedule is flexible. Position is available immediately.


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Create content for the organization’s communications channels, including website, newsletter, social media, videos and press materials.

Contribute ideas to the editorial calendar.

Assist managing and leveraging digital platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube.

Assist with media and social media monitoring.

Assist with pulling metrics and reports to determine ROI for communications efforts.

Research and apply social media best practices.

Update website as needed.

Attend meetings with attorneys, paralegals and staff as needed.


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Current undergraduate student, preferably in a related field (e.g. political science, sociology, criminology, public health, economics, public policy) with a demonstrated interest in criminal justice and social justice.

Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.

Strong verbal and written communications skills.

Capability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

Passionate about human rights and social justice.

Solid understanding of social media networks.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Office Suite, GoogleDocs and Dropbox.
