Product Design Internship Art/Illustration – Summer 2016
We are looking for candidates interested in pursuing a
career in the design field who are seeking hands-on experience! The Product
Design Intern will assist with producing art for decal production that will be
used to reproduce art on our products. They will also learn to work on licensed
art to replicate an artist’s style to complete a piece of art to fit a
specified template. They will assist to prepare and complete detailed and
finished digital images from verbal or written instructions of products using
their strong illustration and design skill. Digital painting skills are
required, as well as having a good sense of design, knowledge of type, and
proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. This is a paid
internship.
Responsibilities:
• Assist designers in the presentation of new product designs, and the production of existing product programs
• Manage administrative functions of the department including: tracking, scheduling, and updating reports and product programs
• Reproduce art for decal production
• Retrieving archived art files
• Organizing jobs that will be worked on by our outsourcing group, including uploading and downloading files onto our server
• Compressing files as necessary for outsourced jobs
• Reviewing files to see if they require additional work to the artwork and perform rework as needed
• Other administrative project management tasks

• BA in progress or completed with a major in Art, Fine Art,
Sculpting, Illustration, or Design, or another art-related field is required
• Design portfolio required
• Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator on a Mac platform required to include proficiency in retouching and illustration
• Must possess excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills – both verbal and written
• Must be detailed-oriented with the ability to follow instructions well
• Self-motivated and able to learn quickly
• Knowledge of MS Office (Word and Excel)
• Design portfolio required

All Product Design/Packaging, Fine and Studio Arts, and
Design and Applied Arts majors
