HAM is a new Art Space in the West
Loop’s Meatpacking District.
Intern duties will
include both assistance with clerical gallery procedures and events as well as
research, development, and implementation of multiple self-initiated projects.
The primary role of the intern
will be to help staff at HAM maintain the daily operations of the gallery. This
includes engaging with visitors to the gallery, facilitating art sales,
cleaning, and minor/routine maintenance. The intern may also be involved in
maintaining inventory records and management systems, updating and producing
content for social media, and installing exhibitions. I
Interns will be expected to staff
the gallery for approximately 12-18 hours per week (at least 20 hours during
the summer) potentially including 4 hours on Saturdays.
In
addition to clerical duties, interns will be expected to work on a number of
projects during their internship that are developed in conjunction with the
gallery manager. These projects are expected to be in line with the interests
of the intern as well as those of HAM. Projects should result in a deliverable
that can directly contribute to the needs of HAM while also benefiting
the personal development of the intern.
